Spring term 2013

Spring term starts on Monday 7th of January at 9 a.m. Sculptor Natalie Sutinen from Stockholm, Sweden is the first guest teacher of the new school year. During two weeks, she'll be teaching our students how to work with materials such as wax and plaster. Sutinen is presenting her own work at the Artist talk event on Tuesday 15th of January at 6 p.m. Croquis drawing starts again on Thursday 31st of January at 6 p.m.

The new group of adult students start their part time studies on Friday 11th of January at 6 p.m. The first course is about two dimensional contemporary art, course held by Annika Bergvik-Forsander, our headmaster and active artist.

A snow and ice workshop is arranged in cooperation with Outdoor Academy at Kronoby folk high school. There will be skiing, outdoor camping and  sculpting with snow and ice in the forest of Kronoby. Meri Linna (NAS 2007-08), Marilyn Krukowski and Patrik Lindgren (from OA Kronoby) are the tutors and guides of this exciting event.

The nordic seminair about Ethics in contemporary art is arranged 19th of March. We have invited lecturers from all Nordic countries to the main event, held at Sokos Hotel Kaarle in Kokkola. The following  workshop "Punishing the limits" , 20-22.3 and 25-27.3,  is led by Norweigan artists Kristin Tårnevik and Hilde Methi . The seminar is financed by Nordisk kulturfond, Kulturkontakt Nord and Svenska kulturfonden.

The study trip this year goes to Berlin  in the beginning of May.
